THE Holsworthy and Torrington Police, along with police volunteers recently conducted a mobile phone and seat belt campaign.

In Holsworthy four drivers were issued a ticket and ten were given words of advice for speeding.

There were at least seven motorists in the Torrington area issued with a ticket and 23 were given words of advice for speeding.

In addition to this, as part of the campaign, a school speedwatch was incorporated. The school children spoke to the drivers who were caught speeding in the area — there were at least four motorists who were spoken to by the children.

A spokesperson said the event was ‘a great success’ and that there had been ‘a good outcome’ to their campaign as people were using their seatbelts and no one was seen using their mobile phone while driving.

They added: “Please be mindful that no matter how tempting it is to answer that call or make that call or look at that text or message, please don’t use your phone whilst driving. Save lives, think!”
