THE Woolsery and District Agricultural Show president recently presented cheques to last year’s chosen chairites.
Woolsery Show is one of the few shows still run by volunteers. Every year the president nominates a charity to make a significant donation from the day’s takings.
The 2017 president, Tony Lang, and his wife Liz, from Parkham, chose two charities that they wished to support.
Cheques for £1,000 each were presented to Lyn Hill, chair of the North Devon Support Group of Diabetes UK and to Stuart Philp, of Bideford Cancer Research and Bill Wren, their serving treasurer of 50 years.
Woolsery Show is held at Clovelly Court on the last Monday in July. It attracts approximately 5,000 people from the local community to visit and compete in the traditional agricultural, equestrian and handicraft competitions and visit trade and food stands and other exhibits.
