POLICE want to speak to a dog walker who may have witnessed a woman being mugged in Monmouth last Thursday (July 16).

A 52-year-old woman was walking between the town and Rockfield at 1pm when a man approached her before grabbing her necklace from around her neck and running off.

The local woman was making her way through the army centre, opposite the fire station, when the man asked her for a light. While she was distracted he grabbed her necklace and ran off in an unknown direction.

The necklace is described as white gold with a distinctive diamond pendant in a figure of eight style.

The offender is described as white with a spotty complexion, average build, about 5ft 6in tall. He was wearing black trainers, black trousers and a black zip up hooded top.

Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries and are asking if anyone has information to call 101 quoting log number 224 of July 16.
