THE owners of Peck-ish Fish and Chip shop in Camelford are vying for the top spot in Thursday's Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip of the Year Awards.

Robert and Louise Peck made their way to London for the final, after their popular fish and chip shop won the regional section to become the South West winner.

As the smallest shop in the running, they will join nine other finalists at the awards, which are seen as the highlight of the industry calendar and represent the prize catch of the UK's chippies.

Top food critic, Jay Rayner, has been named as the official face of the National Fish and Chip Awards and he will host the ceremony.

They come at a time when the UK celebrates 150 years of tucking into the nation's favourite take away.
