Recent revelations have forced central government, the mother of all parliaments, to put their house in order. Transparency for all expenses will in future, for one leading party, be published online and open to unrestricted scrutiny.

Will this complete openness filter down through to local government? In particular for the staff and councillors of Bude and Stratton Town Council? Will Peter Moores have the courage to embrace the new order for members of the public requiring information? No longer will the public and councillors be fobbed off with claiming information cannot be revealed. Also, will secret meetings be a thing of the past.

Once, I repeatedly requested information and, after many months it was thought big and clever to give me 13 pages of text all blanked out. Can the newly elected Mayor Peter Moores assure the public such practices are designated to history, and restore the trust of those people doing the paying?
