ONLY the Liberal Democrats have a clear, positive and evidence-led case for ensuring Britain's interest remains as an active member of the European Union, party members will be told this weekend.

Sir Graham Watson will lead the launch of the South West Liberal Democrat European election campaign at the party's regional conference in Exeter.

The MEP, who this year is seeking a fifth term as one of the Westcountry's Euro-MPs, says the campaign will focus on jobs, and how having active MEPs in Brussels will ensure Britain's economic interests are safeguarded.

Liberal Democrats argue that more than 220,000 jobs have been created in Britain in part due to EU grants and funding.
