CORNWALL Councillor for Launceston Central Alex Folkes has called on Royal Mail to apologise for the delivery shortages that have affected the town, and their subsequent handling of the issue.

Launceston's Liberal Democrats councillors last week called on Royal Mail to take urgent action to restore daily deliveries to all premises in the town, after it was revealed that up to half the town is missing out.

A shortage of delivery staff, combined with the refusal of Royal Mail bosses to allow more hirings, has meant that many homes have been receiving their post only every three days.

Cornwall Councillors Alex Folkes and Sasha Gillard-Loft took action after complaints from residents about infrequent deliveries. Investigations by the councillors revealed that as much as half the town is not being properly covered.
