A SMALL band of walkers, including a young man in a push chair, were seen determined to raise money for the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Mending Broken Hearts’ appeal on their annual sponsored walk on Saturday, September 10.

Michael Heryet, chair of Bude and Stratton branch of the British Heart Foundation (BHF), has expressed thanks to all those who walked the seven miles from the start at the Tourist Information Centre, along the Bude Canal to Whalesborough, then over the fields to the South West Coast Path, stopping for a coffee at Bay View Inn, and then along the South West Coast Path, finishing at Crooklets.

With some sponsorship forms still to be collected, it is hoped that the total raised will reach £300.

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s biggest killer. For over 50 years, the BHF has pioneered research that has transformed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. The work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.

The Mending Broken Hearts appeal is designed to aid research into finding a cure for heart disease and, quite literally, mend broken hearts.
