A group of over 20 volunteers took part in a litter pick held on Saturday, April 17. Organised by PC Mandy Brown and PCSO Beverley Harvey of Holsworthy Police team, the volunteers from Chilsworthy Chapel and the Rock Solid Youth Group started the 'pick' at 2pm where they met at Holsworthy Police Station, they then made their way down to Holsworthy Leisure Centre and school's car park collecting rubbish. The group collected behind Holsworthy Sports Hall and the Scout Hut and then started at the top of Sanctuary Road and picked up rubbish working their way down to the housing estate. The volunteers finished their litter pick at around 4pm after collecting approximately seven black bin bag fulls of litter and the group managed to fill nearly one and half builders merchants bags which can hold a minimum of 850kg normal dry weight (states the Builders Merchants Federation). PC Brown commented on the afternoon: "It was a really nice day and we were helped by a good group of keen volunteers." Holsworthy Police have extended their thanks to volunteers from Chilsworthy Chapel and the Rock Solid Youth Group for their enthusiasm and help and to the Anvil Corner Recycling Centre.
