FOLLOWING last year’s successful ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter picking event, there will be a similar event this year, which will take place in Launceston on Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5.
As for the Clean for the Queen event, volunteers are being invited to come forward to take part on either or both days to litter pick an area of Launceston of their choice.
Groups and individuals are invited to put their name forward at the town hall office, along with their chosen day and area they will be litter picking.
Cllr Dave Gordon, who is putting the event together, told the Post: “I think we can all think of a piece of Launceston that desperately needs litter picking, and this national initiative, similar to last year’s Clean for the Queen event, is an opportunity for people to come forward as individuals or a group to give our town a spring clean.
“Litter picking wands and refuse bags will be made available from the town council, and it is hoped, as last year, tea and coffee will be available at the town hall on return.”
Both days’ litter picks will be between 10am and 12pm, and full details can be obtained from the town hall office on 01566 773693 or from Dave on 01566 774706.
