THE trustees of Holsworthy Rural Community Transport held a reception at the Skills Centre recently for the volunteer drivers who transport people in and around Holsworthy and to hospitals in Plymouth, Exeter and Barnstaple.

Rotarian Martin Prentice, chairman of the trustees, thanked them and the office staff, co-ordinator Cathy Withall and assistant co-ordinator Esther Rowe, for the vital service they provided, one for which there was an increasing need.

During 2012 to 2013 the volunteers had driven 931 journeys, an increase of 61% over the previous year, and between April and September this year they had completed 423 journeys.
