HOW refreshing to have a letter in the newspaper from a young person — Joe Munday aged 15 (the 'Post' October 23) — expressing such common sense and considered opinions.
Bude isn't inner-city Nottingham, though it can feel like it for six summer weeks of the year with vastly increased population. We were all teenagers once and should remember how hard it was to find a place to meet friends in your home town. Bus shelters and park benches have proved old faithfuls for decades.
Wasn't this the young man who drew our attention to the very dangerous traffic arrangement at Poughill on this letters page? A hazard stuck in the middle of the road on a bend with poor visibility which has recently been the cause of an accident. Us drivers just grumbled about the council/highways and didn't bother to complain about its danger.
An articulate young local resident who cares about local issues should be snapped up by local politicians, or at least offer a young person's view to the excellent Mr Dan Rogerson or even this paper. Maybe he can be the voice of common sense to the Prime Minister — goodness knows he needs someone!
Bude.
