Staff and contractors at Pembroke Refinery joined with employees across Valero's global operations recently to mark 'Valero Volunteer Week' with a companywide food drive.
Each year, Valero volunteers in the UK and Ireland, Canada and the US contribute tens of thousands of volunteer hours to charities and community groups in their communities, with almost 137,000 hours recorded in 2014.
At Pembroke Refinery, personnel were asked to create food parcels for local charity Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship (PATCH), and succeeded in collecting a total of 130 food parcels.
Valero Volunteer Council chairman, Richard Jelley, speaking after the food collection, said: "Volunteerism is one of Valero's core values, which is matched by the longstanding reputation we have built over 50 years at Pembroke Refinery of giving back to our local communities. The companywide food drive has been a wonderful event to take part in, knowing that we are part of a huge effort to help others across Valero's operations from west California to west Wales!"
Tracy Olin from PATCH, said: "We are once again incredibly grateful for the help provided to us by Valero.
"These food parcels will go towards helping those in the greatest need in our communities, and we couldn't do that without the generosity of people and companies throughout Pembrokeshire like Valero."
