Cllr Pearce attended the meeting with news that parking in Bude is currently still in consultation.
He said that it was suggested that parking metres could be installed on Queen Street, which he and his fellow Cornwall Councillor for Bude, Cllr David Parsons, opposed to.
“This is a parking and highways issue, and there was talk of putting parking metres up Queen Street, in which case we said go away, we’re really angry about this.”
He explained that it’s up to the council and the people of Bude if they wish for residents’ parking or not, adding that it is a ‘democracy’, and that parking in Bude is still yet to be discussed formally.
Cllr Pearce added that there was a meeting to be held in Wadebridge. However, he thought it was inappropriate to discuss Bude elsewhere, therefore he had persuaded officials to hold a meeting in Bude in the coming months, of which he hopes will be held in the Parkhouse Centre.
