TO the uncaring driver who hit and killed my black and white  cat  on Tuesday, April 14  between 8am and 8.30am and callously left him in the middle of the top road in Soudley to be finished off by the other speed merchants that seem to think the top road is the M1 – especially when going to and from work or taking their  kids to and from school.

My husband found the cat when he left for work at 8.30am  and almost got hit himself while trying to retrieve the cat from the middle of the road.

I know cats are quick and accidents can't always be avoided but there is no excuse for leaving it in the middle of the road to be run over time and time again until unrecognisable.

The  stretch of road where  my cat was killed has good visibility so if the driver was doing the appropriate  speed limit the cat may have stood  more of a chance.

I would like the driver to think on this the next time he or she is driving along the top road – it could be a  child running into the road and that won't be so easy to drive away from.

This is the second cat in two years that we have had  killed on this stretch of road  and left. It doesn't take two minutes to pick it up and put on the grass verge.

Also on  the same stretch of road, walking my horse from field to home on  Saturday, April 18  we were almost hit by a speeding driver in a small black car, having to wave my arms wildly to get  him to slow down.

With the proposal for more houses to be built on the field belonging to the old Bevan's bus depot the traffic and speed problem can only get worse.
