A large group of people of all ages attended St Breward Youth Club to see a display on unarmed combat by Bodmin PCSOs Cador Pendry and Lloyd Paynter recently. PCSO Paynter commented: "The

members of St Breward Youth Club have been

expressing an interest in seeing a display for some time. My colleague Cador, a former Marine

Commando, offered to help and put on a display that included tactics to defend yourself from

anyone carrying a knife or a gun. Cador actively

encouraged young people to join in and partake in various moves. A short powerpoint presentation written by Cador showed some of the types of injury that can be carried out by anyone with using a knife to cause harm." PCSO Paynter added: "I think the evening went really well considering Cador had been delayed by a road accident in the Blisland area. He had to adapt his normal display at very short notice and still managed to get all the participants engaging in all types of self defence moves. I would like to say a big thank you to

everyone who turned up for the evening, St

Breward Football Club, all of the adult helpers and of course Cador for his time and effort. Recently

recruited police volunteer Dani Hollas also helped us out with the Powerpoint presentation when the computer crashed, her expertise was gratefully

received." The youth club continues to be a

resounding success and more events will be on the agenda during the coming months. If you have any particular skills or hobbies that you feel may be of interest or can even offer the club some sponsorship contact PCSO Paynter on 08452 777444 or via email on [email protected]">[email protected].
