STUDENTS at Callington Community College have been rewarded for all their hard work, dedication and commitment over the past two years by securing excellent results in their A Level and vocational qualifications.

This year’s cohort of students has once again performed superbly, with 44% of entries resulting in the top grades of A*, A, B or equivalent. As a result, the majority of students will now travel across the country to continue their studies at university.

Students have been successful in securing top places at universities and institutions such as Bath Spa, Surrey, Bournemouth, Bristol UWE, Brunel, London Goldsmiths, Liverpool Hope, Warwick, Worcester, London School of Economics, and closer to home at Plymouth, Falmouth and Exeter universities.

The range of courses that the students will be studying is diverse, and includes law, computer science, creative writing, archaeology, nursing, biochemistry, film production, midwifery, sociology, aerospace engineering, psychology, theatre production, music, primary teaching, applied sport science, history, chemistry, outdoor leadership and dance.

Other students have also been successful in securing higher level apprenticeships with some top companies across the region, and there are some who have made the decision to move into employment or who will be travelling to see the world.

Principal, Kathy Hockin, said: “I am absolutely delighted that students at Callington Community College have yet again performed so well in their examinations, and would like to congratulate all the students and staff for their hard work.

“This provides a fitting end to the time these students have spent at the college, both inside and outside of the classroom. The students have embraced every aspect of sixth form life and have been superb role models. Many of the students have combined the challenges of studying for their qualifications, alongside giving up their time to help run clubs, support younger students and volunteer within the community. They have also contributed to the college productions, and numerous music and sporting events. The college is immensely proud of all the students and wishes them every success for the future.”
