TWO men have died and one man was left seriously injured in a collision near Hatherleigh last night, Wednesday, July 25.

Emergency services were called at 9.30pm after the collision involving a green Honda Civic on the A3072 at Pulworthy Cross.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Jacobstowe, and the front seat passenger, a 26-year-old man from Hatherleigh, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The rear seat passenger, a 21-year-old man from Hatherleigh, was airlifted by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

A fourth passenger, a 29-year-old man from Okehampton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by ambulance.

Local officers along with officers from the Roads Policing Team and the Serious Collison Investigation Unit attended the scene. The road was closed for eight hours while a forensic examination of the scene was carried out.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them and would also like to hear from anyone who saw the Honda Civic travelling along the A3072 from Holsworthy towards Hatherleigh prior to the incident.
