In response to Adam Symons' letter ('Shameful does not describe it adequately', the 'Post', November 13), TV Licensing would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents in Launceston and we thank Mr Symons for bringing these matters to our attention.

We have since spoken to Mr Symons and are attempting to resolve the issues of those constituents who have requested that we do so. We would like to reassure your readers that these cases are the exception and not the norm for TV Licensing and that we have no wish to trouble anyone who is correctly licensed.

With more than 25 million licences in force, unfortunately, mistakes may happen, which we regret. When errors are identified we try to correct them as quickly as possible. We take customer service very seriously and have a thorough protocol in place for investigating and responding to individual complaints.
