TRIBUTES have been paid to a Bude lady, following her tragic death in a collision last Friday.

Sara Bluett, who was in her mid-40s, died when her silver VW Polo collided with a Ford Maverick on the A39 near Kilkhampton last Friday (March 22).

Although police have yet to confirm it was Sara, she has been named locally. Flowers and tributes were left outside of Park Community School in Barnstaple where she taught graphics and thousands of messages have been left on the Facebook tribute page 'R.I.P MISS Bluett'. She has been described as a "happy" and "inspirational" teacher.

The incident took place at around 7.15am, police closed the road for most of the day, not re-opening it until after 5pm. The two vehicles were reported to be in a ditch, with the Ford almost on its side.

The man driving the Ford was trapped and had to be released by the fire and rescue service.

He was air-lifted to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, and was believed to be without life threatening injuries. He is understood to be from the Bideford area and in his early 40s.

Officers from the serious collisions investigations team were carrying out a detailed investigation at the scene.

Police urge anyone who saw a silver VW Polo at around 7am that day travelling towards Bideford on the A39 to call 101 and quote log reference number 130 of March 22.
