THE community has been left shocked and saddened after one of the area's most talented goalkeepers died at the weekend.

Matt Oke, from Holsworthy, has been described as one of the best goalkeepers in the area and will be missed by many.

Police were called to the car park of Treetops Inn, Week St Mary, on Saturday around 7.30pm, from someone concerned for the welfare of a man in a car. It is understood Matt took his own life and police have confirmed no one else was involved. Although formal identification has yet to take place, he has been named locally.

Tributes have been paid to Matt by members of the football community and those who knew him.
