AFTER more than 35 years of service, first as treasurer then as secretary, to Holsworthy Museum, Liz Curtis has recently handed over her responsibilities to Margaret Benjafield, writes Christine Williams.

Liz became involved in 1979 and helped form the Holsworthy Museum Society to oversee its transfer from one small room in the Manor Offices to its present more spacious accommodation, a task which involved a lot of physical work to get it fit to open.

Over the years she has seen the collections grow to some 10,000 items, many of them photographs, the introduction of IT and the museum accredited with the Arts Council.

At the recent annual meeting, the chairman, Russell Dymond thanked Liz for her tremendous service as the driving force behind the museum.

He said: "Had she hung along a little longer, she may well have qualified as one of our exhibits."

Liz intends to continue her association with the museum and help her successor settle in.
