TRACTORS of all shapes and sizes descended on the streets in and around Holsworthy as part of efforts to raise money for future entertainment at the town’s St Peter’s Fair Week.
Organised by local community figures in order to help build the coffers for the town’s premier calendar showpiece, it was a sight to behold for the spectators that lined the route to enjoy the spectacle.
Just after 11am, the tractors left Holsworthy Square before going on a route that took in Staddon Road, Clawford Lakes, Stacey’s Christmas Tree Farm, Clawton, Thornton Cross, Pyworthy and Derriton before finishing where they began in the centre of Holsworthy town centre.
Prior to beginning their tour of Holsworthy and its surrounding areas, those taking part in the Holsworthy tractor run were greeted by and seen off by the town’s mayor, Cllr Jon Hutchings.
Once the tractor run had been completed, participants were able to take the time to enjoy a pasty and enjoy the company of likeminded folk all united by the twin loves of tractors and where they live.
In addition to as bringing tractors together with spectators to raise money for the St Peter’s Fair Week entertainment, the great and good of Holsworthy community life came together to assist in the event.
Among those were the Holsworthy and District Lions Club who did their bit to help raise money for the same cause at the tractor run.
A spokesperson for Holsworthy and District Lions said: “Some of the Holsworthy and District Lions members helped at The St. Peters Fair Tractor Run, raising funds for the next annual St Peter’s Fair event.
“Organised by Lion Amy Martin and Lion Jordan Martin. It was extremely well organised. Also so lovely to see the older tractors with their proud owners and the next younger generation of Young Farmers with their enthusiasm”
