There was lots to see and do during this year’s St Peter’s Fair week in Holsworthy.
The week long event included ‘A Town Walk’ led by Clive Barriball, followed by Sung Eucharist - a modern language service with hymns in St Peter and St Paul’s Parish. On the Monday there was an evening of family fun where everyone had a bite to eat from the BBQ and refreshments, as well as enjoy the bouncy castles, tombola raffles and games.
Jon Hutchings, St Peter’s Fair entertainment coordinator, said: “Overall we had a very good week, we were very lucky with the weather again, it was well supported, we had some great bands and just overall we had a very good week.
“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who support us from the sponsors through to the stewards.”
Mayor of Holsworthy Cllr Nigel Kenneally added: “I’m beyond overjoyed at how well St Peters fair week went. The week started with The civic service which was well attended.
“On Tuesday night the Court Leet took centre stage, with the petitions keeping all in attendance thoroughly amused.
“This was followed by the traditional ale tasting, where I was assured the ale tasters stuck to one drink in each of the pubs . Fair Wednesday was a huge success with the pretty maid ceremony, fair lunch and music in the Square in the evening.
“Thursday saw the traditional furry dance where the Portreeve and Portrevene showed off their impressive dancing skills. Music continued in the Square on Friday and Saturday night which was extremely well attended. With the band Not The Cowboys being a particular highlight.
“All in all it was a fantastic fair week which was well organised and showed of all that is great about Holsworthy. Bring on St Peter’s Fair 2024!”
