ONE of the biggest Christmas events in the area could be in danger of ending due to a lack of support from the town.
This could be the last year Launceston Late Night opening extravaganza and Christmas lights, which showcases the best of everything on offer in the town, is held.
Concern has been raised from a member of the Chamber of Commerce following the lack of support at fund-raising events.
The member, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "This event costs a considerable amount of money and is financed by funds through the Launceston Chamber of Commerce. This benefits all the businesses in Launceston from the banks, pubs, shops, fast food outlets, estate agents, solicitors, accountants, supermarkets, right through to cafés, restaurants and hairdressers, and yet the majority of the local business community is failing to support the fundraising efforts."
