THE Launceston Town Band held its annual dinner and awards ceremony at Eagle House Hotel on Saturday.
The Mayor, Cllr Rob Tremain, in proposing the toast to the band, said he was very proud to be associated with the band. He referred to the senior band's contest success under musical director, Dave Dobson, in qualifying for the national finals this year and being promoted to the third section; the award of the Cornish Brass Band trophy at the Gorsedd in the summer, and gaining first place in the South West Brass Band Association's contest in Torquay in November.
He was also impressed by the progress the junior band had made under Ann Brown from a training band to a youth section band, who had won first place in the youth band section in Torquay in November.
