WHALESBOROUGH Farm Holiday Cottages near Bude has been named 'Eco Project of the Year' in the Michelmores Property Awards 2015 — which recognises the very best of the South West's property and construction industry.
For 2015, the annual awards, held at Sandy Park, Exeter, received the highest number of entries in the last five years of the competition, from property developers, building contractors, architects and other industry professionals across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset.
The project, designed by Trewin Architects, based in Holsworthy, is set within 500 acres of countryside, featuring 20 five-star luxury cottages and leisure facilities.
Whalesborough Farm beat three other high-profile South West projects to take home the prize, showcasing exemplary eco features throughout the development.
Eight other South West development projects were celebrated, including the residential development 'Home @ Heartlands' near Pool, which won 'Residential Project of the Year 41 Units and Over'.
Peter Lacey, judge of the Michelmores Property Awards, said: "Congratulations to Trewin Design Architects, for winning 'Eco Project of the Year' for their scheme at Whalesborough Farm.
"The judges were particularly impressed with its strong sustainability and eco-credentials. The development also boasts a spa, creating jobs and offering a leisure facility for visitors and local people".
