'Post' photographer, David Flower was recently interviewed for BBC2 TV series, 'The Great British Home Movie Roadshow.' David first started using movie film in and around Tintagel in the 1940s. He has captured on film the first Formula One motor races held at Davidstow Circuit, Tintagel Coronation Day in 1953, the Queen's Jubilee Day in 1977, and the filming of both 'Knights of the Round Table' in 1953 and 'Dracula' in 1979, amongst much more. He was one of the first people on the scene of the Tintagel plane crash in 1979, capturing the first helicopter to land in Cann's car park and firemen arriving at the incident. Later he showed the film he had made of the plane crash to a packed audience in the village social hall. David has always been interested in movies one way or another and used to show 9.5mm films at his parents' home, Nutes Hotel in Tintagel, to his school friends. He later became a 'rewind boy' at the Tower Cinema in Launceston, and in 1952 became chief projectionist for six years at the Regal Cinema in Delabole. He recorded 28 weddings on video but had to finish filming them following a heart attack. David moved from movies to still photography in 2000, which he displays at http://www.tintagelweb.co.uk">www.tintagelweb.co.uk. He became the photographer for the Camelford and Delabole Post in 2003 and has held this position for the past eight years. The TV programme is due to be broadcast on BBC2 in July.
