A sell-out audience at the Falcon Hotel, Bude enjoyed a thrilling evening of entertainment in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance New Heli Appeal. Performed by men’s singing group Bassline, children’s music and drama club Bright Sparks and band Notorious, the evening raised more than £1,100 for the Appeal.
The Bright Sparks cast opened the evening with a showstopping performance of the song The Greatest Showman in full costume. Bassline followed on with their opening numbers Deadwood Stage and the Black Hills of Dakota. Bassline performed numbers that ranged far and wide across the entertainment world from the Policeman’s Song by Gilbert and Sullivan, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen to Les Miserables.
Brights Sparks Music and Drama Club’s programme included, Food Glorious Food from the musical Oliver, a drama called The Pirates of Poundstock, You raise me up and I don’t need anything but you from Annie. Hilary Daniel, director of Bright Sparks, said: “I was so proud of our young actors and singers. They really did wow the audience with performances full of confidence and enjoyment.”
Andrew Pitt, leader of Bassline, commented: “Lift Off was such a happy evening for both performers and the audience. And to raise more than £1,100 for the New Heli appeal was fantastic. It is such an important cause for Cornwall. We are very grateful to the live band Notorious, the Falcon Hotel, LDLS Lighting & Sound, our guest soloist Jan Miller and the many, many other people that made this event possible.”
