Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraiser — the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning — took place on Friday, with events organised throughout the county.

The final total is yet to be announced, but last year, 787 coffee mornings were held in Cornwall, raising around £181,100 to help provide vital services and support for people affected by cancer.

2016 is the 26th year of the event and with the help of fundraisers, Macmillan hopes to make it biggest yet. Funds from the event will go towards providing practical, financial, emotional and medical support to people affected by cancer.

In Cornwall, Macmillan is working closely with partner organisations to help provide clinical nurse specialists, develop a new information and support service at The Cove Macmillan Centre, Royal Cornwall hospital, and help with the cost of cancer through the Citizens Advice Cornwall Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advice.
