THE Bridge Inn, at Bridgerule, held its third annual charity auction for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising £2,340 for the charity.

No one is more delighted than landlady, Pam Bowler, who said: "We were going to give the charity auction a rest this year. As a local pub that is a big part of the local community, we know everyone is feeling the pinch with less money to spend.

"But once we got to January, our regulars started asking when we were holding the Macmillan auction. So my husband Gary and I thought why not?"

Pam continued: "The auction is very much a team effort. We couldn't have had such a successful evening without the hard-work and dedication of our regular customers who are the auction team. The support of Becky from our bank, Barclays in Bude, who helped boost the total through their match-funding scheme. And of course, all the local businesses and individuals who donated, as well as those that bid on the night."
