Health officials have issued a statement to reassure people in the Launceston area that there are definitely no plans to close the local medical centre. Dr Peter Knibbs, the Director of Primary Care at the Trust, says: "It has come to the trust's attention that some people are worried the medical centre in Launceston is due to close and this is completely untrue. The medical centre is greatly valued in the local community. "As a Trust we are committed to increasing primary care services and providing more care closer to home, so this rumour really is contrary to our strategic intention.
