ALTHOUGH unable to attend herself, the most sociable cow, Miss Lilly from the Trevoulter herd in Poundstock was represented at Launceston Show on Thursday, July 27, by her brother ‘Trevoulter Adwen 1’.
This year the Trevoulter South Devon Herd — managed by Team Trevoulter — Ann-marie Risdon, Lynn Pluess and her daughters Kerensa Cobbledick and Latesha Colwill — showed just one animal, but still presented strong competition against other exhibitors.
They were joined by 13-month-old Cailyn Colwill and possibly the show’s youngest exhibitor, 12-week-old Adwin Cobbledick. Lynn said: “It’s a great team we’ve got!”
Although the famous Miss Lilly, who is most notable for being the only cow with social media, was absent from this year’s show, due to family priorities, her baby brother did a fine job of representing the family — winning second in his class despite ‘strong competition’.
Kerensa told the Post: “Miss Lilly is not here herself, but is being represented by her baby brother. She’s absent today because she’s just had a baby, who is doing very well and will hopefully be out next year — she is such a proud mum!”
Miss Lilly is the first ‘sociable cow’ with social media profiles. Users can spot the South Devon cow on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Lynn explained: “Instead of promoting the herd, it’s nice to promote the breed, because South Devons are very sociable animals.”
