THE Holsworthy Pretty Maid for 2019 is 17-year-old Harriet Cousins.
Born on May 30, 2002, Harriet is Holsworthy born and bred, attending Holsworthy primary and secondary schools.
She has finished her first year of apprenticeship at Llewellyn’s Hair Dressers and is looking forward to starting her second year there in September. Harriet also works part-time at Cousins Corner Café with her mother and father, and enjoys cooking. Whilst at school, she enjoyed sciences as well as food and nutrition.
Growing up, Harriet enjoyed swimming and gymnastics and took part in both for ten years and gained several awards and trophies, including most improved. She also enjoyed hockey at school and went on a ski trip to Italy with Holsworthy Community College. Harriet was also deeply moved on her school visit to the war graves and memorials in Belgium.
At school, Harriet played both the piano and violin, and achieved grades in both. She has enjoyed holidays abroad including the Caribbean and Tenerife, as well as trips to London.
Harriet is now a member of the bell ringing team at the church in Holsworthy, and practices on Wednesday evenings. She rings most Sundays and then joins the congregation for the 9.30am Eucharist.
As well as bell ringing, Harriet enjoys running and taking their dog, Toby, for walks.
