Following a successful meeting with the trustee’s at Tintagel social hall, a new charity, ‘The Pantry’, has opened for weekly sessions. Chelly Sturgess, the manager and now trustee of the hall, made the decision in September 2021 to create the charity which offers help to people who are struggling for food and essentials as well as clothing, bedding, and household items.

The Pantry has regular donations through local communities, tabletop fundraisers and through their community champions; Kayleigh Pitt from Tesco in Launceston and Jackki Lavender from Asda in Bodmin. The charity is also linked with Fareshare Southwest and The Chaos group who they receive bulk donations of surplus food from.

There are regular weekly sessions on a Friday at 10am, where people can come along and pick up what they need.

The Pantry are holding a jumble sale at Tintagel Social on February 6, in conjunction with The Neighbourhood Community Cookery Club, run by Julie Potter. They also have plans for more fundraising events throughout the year.
