THE first step in the redevelopment of Holsworthy's Stanhope Park was completed on Saturday when the £125,000 children's play area was opened, writes Christine Williams.

Mayor of Holsworthy Cllr John Allen welcomed a crowd of parents and children to what he described as 'the long anticipated opening of this superb playground'.

He said: "This is your playground. "Enjoy using it, keep an eye on it and report anyone who misuses it."
