THERE was festive fun in Holsworthy for all ages when the Holsworthy & District Lions held their annual children’s Christmas party on Sunday, December 18.
Approximately 150 people attended the event in the Memorial Hall. As well as traditional party games, such as pass the parcel, there was a disco provided by Lion Andy King. There was also a magic show performed by children’s entertainer Dave Hendy, whose tricks and balloon animals had the children transfixed and brought some welcome quiet to what otherwise was a very loud afternoon!
The most magical thing of all though was a visit from Father Christmas at the end of the party so all the children went home with a present.
The Lions will be out and about in Holsworthy on Thursday, December 22, carol singing. However, the next major event on the Lions’ calendar is for the slightly older residents of Holsworthy, the ‘senior citizens’ lunch’ on January 21, 2017. The ‘Waitrose Community Matters Scheme’ is helping to fund this event by making a contribution for every green token dropped into the collection box at the Holsworthy branch of Waitrose.
