STRATTON'S Post Office is set to move from its current home in The Tree Inn. With the current Postmaster's agreement, Post Office Ltd are proposing to move the branch to Stratton Stores at 1, Lord Court. North Cornwall Liberal Democrat MP Dan Rogerson worked with local residents and landlords of The Tree Inn, Bob and Emma Semple, to save the Stratton branch when it was threatened with closure in 2008. The Post Office has operated from the pub in Fore Street since March 2009, but Post Office Ltd is now running a six-week consultation to see if local people are happy for the branch to be moved to Stratton Stores. The shop would be modernised, making Post Office services available at the retail tills. This would lead to longer opening hours of 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. The current Post Office at The Tree Inn is open from 9am until 1pm, Monday to Saturday. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
