THE congregation of St Swithin’s, Launcells, gave a huge ‘thank you’ to Mrs Lilian Quinn on Sunday, December 12, for all the work she has done for the church over the years.

Mrs Quinn has been the treasurer on the Parochial Church Council (PCCC) for almost 50 years. She was also the treasurer of the bellringers. Mrs Quinn has been organising the annual ‘Craft Fayre’ for many years. The list of the work she has done is long, covering so many different tasks.

The churchwardens, Jan Hunt and Maggie Cooper, made the presentation at the morning service, with Rev Teresa Folland reminding everyone of all the work which Mrs Quinn had done. Mrs Quinn was presented with a Lectionary and a photograph album with images of various events which she has been involved in over the past 48 years.

Helen Barnes, the tower captain, presented Lilian with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for the work she has done for the bellringers.

Mrs Quinn said she was “surprised” by the presentation but was “delighted with the gifts”. She added: “One does not do things in order to be thanked, but because one cares for the church.”
