DURING the celebrations of the 750th granting of the Camelford Charter a total of 13 varying events were held during the day at weekends and some evenings and were mostly free entry, especially if you attended in costume, which many people did.

My question is this, can anyone tell me why, out of a population of 3,000, excluding children, a large majority of them failed to attend even though the events were well advertised, ie only seven people used the free bus to the jousting event?

Thanks to the local press for their coverage of the events and could you please publicize the enclosed poem written by me as my thank you to all the hard working committee for the above events.

Celebrations

The celebrations are over,

The cheers have all died down,

The committee did an excellent job,

And really went to town.

As someone not alive back then,

And an emmet I am to boot,

What you all did to celebrate,

Really was a hoot.

All the hard work was appreciated,

By me and many more,

The programme you arranged,

Appealed to rich and poor.

To one and all who worked so hard,

To arrange such lovely things,

Many thanks from me to you,

For all the joy it brings.

Now all enjoy a well earned rest,

A holiday maybe,

Another Charter in the future,

We'll have to wait and see!
