TEN-year-old Victoria Congdon was the inspiration behind an evening concert held at the Bullers Arms, Marhamchurch on Saturday, September 11 which raised £1,200 for the North Devon Hospice.

Private teacher, Vic Bickle, was moved when Victoria — or Tori as she likes to be known — commented:?"You know you're always raising money for different projects? Can we put on a concert to raise some money for the place my mummy died?"

Spurred into action, Vic contacted the North Devon Hospice and spoke to Emma Lowe. An event was organised to take place at the Bullers Arms, which would see Tori and other pupils from schools including those in Bude and Holsworthy share their performing talents with family and friends.

Tori, sang two duets with her friend Beth, in what were real highlights of the night.

A successful prize draw also helped to boost funds, though the first prize — a double bed given by the Congdons — has not been claimed and the owner of ticket number 530 is urged to contact Vic on 01288 354853. If no response is received, the item will be put on eBay, with the proceeds going again to North Devon Hospice.

Vic said:?"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank friends too numerous to name for making this evening such a success."
