A TOWN clock will be removed for around a month for repair, cleaning and servicing.
One of the sides of the clock in Launceston, which is above Barclays Bank, is not working properly.
The clock was put up by the Launceston Civic Society, which no longer exists.
The town's chamber of commerce has made an application for funding toward the costs of hiring a scissor lift to remove and reinstall the clock — a task that will be carried out by town council staff.
Nigel Bowman from Launceston Steam Railway has offered to overhaul the clock with the aim of making it work again.
It is hoped the clock will come down on February 1.
