ARMY cadets from Holsworthy have been enjoying exciting and challenging activities.
Twenty-four cadets travelled to Survival Combat Games near Torrington recently, where they undertook a military style laser tag mission before camping out.
The following day there were team challenges followed by a barbecue and the presentation of winner’s medals.
The senior NCOs voted Caitlin Braund ‘Best Cadet on Exercise’ and Cadet Edward Girdler received promotion to Lance Corporal.
Holsworthy Army Cadet Force (ACF) expressed its thanks to site owner Brian Moore for his continued support in making this event possible.
A few days after, four cadets undertook a realistic casualty simulation as assessment for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award ‘skills’ section. With a ‘major incident’ in progress the cadets had to deal with multiple casualties.
Local police, fire and ambulance services were called in by the team who had to prioritise and treat the wounded.
Holsworthy ACF expressed its thanks to all the professionals who attended and for the support given to the cadets throughout the assessment.
The detachment closed on August 5 and re-opens on September 2 when new recruits will be welcome.
