A PLANNING application to bring another Indian take-away restaurant to Bude has met strong objection from nearby residents who claim it will bring extra noise and fumes to the area.
The application was for the change of use of 29 Queen Street from an A1 shop to an A5 hot-food take-away. It was discussed by Bude Stratton Town Council's planning committee last Thursday.
Having read the comments made by the public regarding the application on the Cornwall Council website, the town council supported many of the neighbours' objections.
One contributor wrote of the effect the potential new take-away would have on existing ones of its kind: 'I believe Bude has enough Indian restaurants for a town this size. The existing ones struggle as it is during off-peak times so to introduce yet another will make it much harder for these businesses to continue. Existing Indian restaurants in Bude should be supported, not threatened, by too much competition. Please refuse this application.'
