THE award ceremony for the 2018 Sound Waves South West (SWSW) Perryman/Bolitho Award for Musical Achievement was held at Duckpool Cottage, Coombe Valley, Morwenstow, on Saturday, September 8.
The standard of the nominations was high and congratulations to all those who entered.
The winner this year is Joshua Clarke, from Bideford College, who has made outstanding progress on the viola, and he received £100.
The runner-up, Sarah Pankhurst from Budehaven, received £50 for her achievement on the Tenor Horn.
Other nominees received a £10 book token and a certificate.
A spokesperson for SWSW said: “They have all made great contributions to music in the community in their local area.”
Thanks were expressed to SWSW patron, Dr Rosie Richardson, who presented the prizes.
A cream tea was served to nominees and their families.
