The food hub, which is based at the Oceans Community Centre on the Strand in Bude, was formed eight years ago and has helped hundreds of families from the local community who are struggling.
People with no food or money can get a food voucher, which they can exchange for a food parcel. They rely fully on donations so this deal represents a great source of help to the food hub.
Morrisons will be donating food on a regular basis, as well as setting up a donation station, where customers can donate food. This has already seen a positive response with a lot of food already being taken down to the food hub.
The store’s community champion, Dave Bradbury, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Bude Food Hub who play such an important role within the community of Bude.
“Morrisons has a commitment for preventing food waste, with the company’s motto being ‘never let food go to waste’, and we feel what Sue and her team provide fit into what we want to be a part of.”
Sue Jarvis, the food bank manager, said: “We would like to thank Morrisons for their help in supporting Bude Food Bank. Your store has really helped us support those families in need.
“Without Morrisons and the local people supporting our food bank, we would not be able to provide this much needed service in Bude and the surrounding areas.”
