MEMBERS of Granville Lodge No.3405 held their annual charity Sunday afternoon tea party in the garden of the Masonic Hall in Bude on Sunday, July 9.

Over 60 people attended with lodge members inviting friends and family, as well as being supported by members of other lodges. The weather, despite some worrying reports, turned out to be fine and tea was taken in a marquee, belonging to one of the members.

A huge selection of sandwiches and cakes, as well as a traditional cream tea, were all on offer, having been prepared by Margaret Reeve, wife of lodge member, Peter.

As a token of appreciation, the Master of Granville Lodge, Tony Davis, presented a bouquet of flowers to Margaret on behalf of everyone present.

He thanked everyone for attending and those who had helped with the preparation for the party.

A large number of prizes were donated for the raffle, which raised the magnificent sum of £251. There was also a ‘teddy bear draw’, which raised £53. This was for a large teddy, generously donated by Morrisons of Bude, who was pleased to support the nominated lodge charity, TLC, or ‘Teddies for Loving Care’.

This charity is actively supported by freemasons throughout Cornwall and provides teddy bears to hospital A & E departments to soothe distressed children when they are admitted, followed an accident, injury or illness.

Overall, the event raised the sum of £618 as a result of the generosity of those attending. Everyone enjoyed a splendid afternoon and departed from the Masonic hall well fed and happy.
