IT is often said that traditions define the character of a place - and never truer was that phrase then the latest edition in the storied history of Holsworthy’s St Peter’s Fair week.
The town came out in force to enjoy the entertainment and spectacles on offer, with the Pretty Maid unveiling the centrepiece of a week that had something for almost everyone.
Eliza Jeffery was announced as the latest resident to be bestowed the honour of being the Pretty Maid, with the youngster’s unveiling being greeted by a warm reception from residents, dignitaries and mayors.
The absence of the funfair owing to the failure of the proposed operator to submit the necessary paperwork may have proved a disappointment but for the rest of the schedule, it delivered in an abundance.
