The mayor and mayoress of Launceston officially opened the Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Friday, November 29.

The opening coincided with the Christmas lights switch-on which marks the start of another festive season in the town.

Mayor, David Gordon, always looks forward to the date on his calender.

He said: “The annual Christmas Tree festival at St Mary Magdalene is a lovely event, and an event many of us look forward to every year. I always feel it is the countdown to Christmas. Every year there seems to be more trees than the previous year, and with 70 trees on display this year, the church looks absolutely lovely.

“Thanks must be extended to the festival’s organisers for making the Christmas Tree Festival such a lovely annual event.”
