Members of Holsworthy’s stroke club were recently entertained by Simon Dell, a volunteer at Lundy Island, who has also written books about it.
He took the members on a virtual tour of the island, and afterwards they were treated to tea and cakes supplied by Waitrose. Waitrose representative, Marilyn, told the group that her managers were interested in helping the Stroke Club gain more recognition in the area.
A spokesperson from the group said: “We have been very privileged to have been accepted to benefit from Waitrose’s green token scheme and received a cheque for £786.”
The money will go towards trips out for the members and to let people know where they are and what they do.
